چکیده

The decision of ‘appropriately’ choosing the order in which examinations are scheduled when constructing an examination timetable can be seen as a process of ordering alternatives from a set in order to find a good solution. In this paper, a comparison is made between fuzzy ordering with single and linear combinations of ordering heuristics. It is found that fuzzy ordering leads to better solutions.

Fuzzy Multiple Heuristic Ordering for Examination Timetabling

In this paper, we address the issue of ordering exams by simultaneously considering two separate heuristics using fuzzy methods. Combinations of two of the following three heuristic orderings are employed: largest degree, saturation degree and largest enrollment. The fuzzy weight of an exam is used to represent how difficult it is to schedule. The decreasingly ordered exams are sequentially cho...

Generating Optimal Timetabling for Lecturers using Hybrid Fuzzy and Clustering Algorithms

UCTTP is a NP-hard problem, which must be performed for each semester frequently. The major technique in the presented approach would be analyzing data to resolve uncertainties of lecturers’ preferences and constraints within a department in order to obtain a ranking for each lecturer based on their requirements within a department where it is attempted to increase their satisfaction and develo...

A bi-objective model for a scheduling problem of unrelated parallel batch processing machines with fuzzy parameters by two fuzzy multi-objective meta-heuristics

This paper considers a bi-objective model for a scheduling problem of unrelated parallel batch processing machines to minimize the makespan and maximum tardiness, simultaneously. Each job has a specific size and the data corresponding to its ready time, due date and processing time-dependent machine are uncertain and determined by trapezoidal fuzzy numbers. Each machine has a specific capacity,...

Fuzzy Multiple Heuristic Ordering for Course Timetabling

In this paper, we address the issue of ordering events by simultaneously considering three separate heuristics using fuzzy methods. Combinations of the following three heuristic orderings are employed: largest degree, saturation degree and largest enrollment. The fuzzy weight of an event is used to represent how difficult it is to schedule. The decreasingly ordered events are sequentially chose...
